Husky Haute: Fall Edition – Staying Stylish and Comfortable on the Boston Campus

Welcome to the Fall Edition of Husky Haute!

College fashion isn’t just about looking good; it’s also about staying comfortable and practical. With the unpredictable weather here in Boston—sweltering summers and chilly winters—finding the perfect balance between style and comfort can be a challenge. But fear not! Our stylish Husky Ambassadors (HAs) are here to share their top tips and favorite outfits to help you navigate the changing seasons with flair.

Alli’s Look

1. Autumn Style: Embracing Comfort and Classic New England Vibe

Alli’s Look: “When dressing for the fall in Boston, I like to balance comfort while leaning into the autumnal style that is quintessentially New England. I often like to pair a sweater with plain jeans. I find that a fun autumn-colored sweater really leans into the energy of fall while still being comfortable and practical!”

Tip: Invest in comfortable pieces like cardigans and sweaters that you can easily throw on or take off as the weather fluctuates. This will keep you warm in the early morning but cool as the day warms up.

2. Embrace the Boston Breeze: Stylish and Functional

Aidan’s Look: “Boston in the Fall is the perfect weather to be bold with your fashion choices! It can be quite breezy, so I opted for an underlayer and some gloves to keep warm. I love layering because it allows me to adjust my outfit based on the temperature changes throughout the day. Finally, adding a pop of red with my pants adds that flare to my look – it’s both stylish and practical!”

Tip: Don’t shy away from being bold with your fashion while being practical! It’s an easy way to add personality to your outfit while staying warm.

Nathan’s Look

3. Brighten Up Your Winter Wardrobe

Nathan’s Look: “Winter in Boston can be pretty harsh, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style for warmth, especially if you’re not used to New England winters. I love to add pops of color to my outfits, such as with my sneakers to keep myself comfortable but fun. Pairing a classic outfit with a fun, colorful accessory instantly brightens up a gloomy day.

Tip: Don’t let Boston’s gray winter skies dull your style! A fun pair of shoes, a vibrant scarf, or a beanie in a bold color can make your look pop and lift your mood. You’ll stay warm and stylish without blending into the winter gloom.

Victoria’s Look

4. Fall Essentials: Keep it Cool and Casual

Victoria’s Look: “Boston fall mornings can be cold, but temperatures may rise in the afternoon. I went for a lightweight sweater I can remove later in the day. My corduroys were perfect for adding both warmth and style to my fall and winter wardrobes. Comfortable sneakers are also a must for walking around campus!

Tip: Opt for light, breathable fabrics and comfortable footwear to keep you cool and comfortable.

Sophia’s Look

5. Mix and Match: Finding Your Signature Style

Sophia’s Look: “I love to mix and match different textures and patterns to create a unique look. For example, I’ll pair a patterned blouse with classic jeans or mix a sleek leather jacket with a flowy skirt. It’s all about finding what makes you feel confident and comfortable.

Tip: Don’t be afraid to experiment with different styles and patterns. Fashion is all about expressing yourself, so find what works best for you and own it.

College fashion is all about finding that perfect balance between style and practicality, especially with Boston’s ever-changing weather. By layering smartly, adding colorful accessories, and choosing versatile pieces, you can stay comfortable while looking fabulous all year round. Don’t forget to let your personality shine through your outfits and enjoy the process of discovering your unique college style!
