FAQS
-
Any UNDERGRADUATE student who has three or more semesters left in their undergraduate career at Northeastern can apply!
-
Recruitment occurs in both the Fall and Spring Semester of every academic year. The application typically goes live around the beginning of both semesters after Fall Fest and the Winter Involvement Fair. The written application is open for about 3-4 weeks.
-
The Recruitment Chairs and Committee will take some time to read every single application. From then, the applicants that progress past the written application stage will be extended an invitation to interview night. Students that do not get accepted will receive a rejection email (and are also encouraged to reapply!!)
-
The interview consists of one group style interview. Interviewees will be asked a series of questions and have the opportunity to meet current Husky Ambassadors!
This is the last step of the interview process, so applicants who pass will be notified and will be accepted into Husky Ambassadors! (Pro tip from Recruitment Chairs: There really is nothing you can do to prepare. Just be ready to answer some questions and have fun!)
-
Whether you get rejected after the written application or the interview stage, if you have three or more semesters left of your academic career, you are eligible to reapply! Many current Husky Ambassadors have gotten accepted after trying multiple times. In every application, we encourage individuals to tell us about their Northeastern experience and truly just be their authentic self.
-
Husky Ambassadors have a quota of the number of tours they are expected to give over a period of a few weeks or months. This quota number is calculated and fluctuates, but typically comes out to be 1-2 tours per week. In addition, every two weeks there are Org Wides which are one-hour meetings in the nighttime that every HA attends to get updates and important information. Being an HA is super flexible, and many HA’s participate in other organizations outside of Husky Ambassadors.
-
After acceptance, HAs immediately begin training. This typically occurs once a week for an hour in the nighttime for about eight weeks. A few training sessions occur in the same semester of the application process and finish up in the semester after that. In addition to training meetings, new HAs are paired and meet with older HA mentors to assist with learning training content.
-
HAs do a variety of things! You can get certified to give information sessions with an admissions counselor that occurs before families go out on tour with the HAs. There are also committees that you can join such as Recruitment, Programming, Communications, and HA Development.
-
Absolutely! But there are a few things to keep in mind. HA hours MAY count towards work study, but they do not have to. If you are working multiple on-campus jobs, be aware that the maximum you can work between BOTH jobs is 20 hours per week (i.e. 10 hours HA, 10 hours other job – MAX).
